here’s my main problem with damon meeting elena first:

littledivinity:

that was not season 1 Damon.  That scene was just so vastly and bizarrely out of step with who Damon was.  With how Damon carried himself.  I know he was ‘shocked’ at seeing Katherine’s face, but the Damon of early season 1 would’ve reacted viscerally.  I just don’t buy it.  I don’t buy that reaction or that dialogue or that sequence of events for the Damon that was around during the first 6-8 episodes of season 1.

longer thought about the vampire diaries last night:

littledivinity:

Am I the only one that didn’t take Damon wanting to shoulder the responsibility of Stefan being a ripper as the writers shirking Stefan of his duty?

I actually just saw that as what the writersalways do with these two.  They BOTH shoulder the blame for the other’s mistakes.  Stefan tries to remind Damon over and over of his humanity.  And yes, I have issues with the way Stefan goes about it, and I absolutely think Stefan is a bit of a hypocrite about him sometimes.  But that’s what they do.

They look at one another and say, “I’m sorry I forced you into having these flaws you didn’t have pre-vampirism.”

Stefan looks at Damon as a human-feeding, murdering asshole and says: I’m sorry I made you a vampire, I judge the fuck out of you to try and allay my own guilt at having being the cause of you no longer being the loving, naive older brother I remember.

Damon looks at Stefan as this ripper that is essentially an alcoholic but with blood and says: I’m sorry I left you, I’m sorry I couldn’t be the big brother, it was my job to watch out for you and I failed.  He sees Stefan and he thinks, “I’m the one that doesn’t have trouble controlling theirself, I should have BEEN there for him.”

Because neither of these brothers is actually responsible for the other brother’s actions.  People are only responsible for what THEY do.

But they are brothers and they love one another so powerfully and believe in the other so powerfully that when it comes to these sorts of flaws, these fuck-ups, they can only shoulder the blame themselves because they don’t want to believe the person they love this fully could be responsible.

Gilbert vaginas are like Damon’s version of pokemon. He’s gotta catch ‘em all.

and now for my actual thoughts on tvd last night:

littledivinity:

Another played out trope on this show: Damon will sacrifice “himself” and do the shitty thing that will piss Elena off so that Stefan can default back to hero in her eyes. Sigh. We did this already. And I feel like we’ve done it a few times. It’s like the writers just hit reset on the relationships in the show and we’re back to Damon being the misunderstood bastard, Stefan being the OH SO ANGSTY hero, and Elena being the one that’s kept in the dark about the shit that’s ACTUALLY happening because the guys are treating her like she’s some sort of object to be passed around.

Speaking of which: Nope. Damon, you don’t get to hand off Elena to Stefan because Elena is autonomous person that should get to decide whose bed she shares. So both of you Salvatores, stop doing EVERYONE a fucking favour and act like you’re the deciding factor in who ends up in Elena’s vagina.

Because I’ll be honest, at THIS point? I ship Elena/Elijah more than any of the other things I ship because I’m just worn out on the lather, rinse, repeat of the Elena/Stefan/Damon dynamic. And plus, because Elijah is a dapper motherfucker and because he’s cute and because he wrote her a lovely note.

Another plot device I’m sick to fucking death of: Bonnie virtually disappears for episodes on end! We give her a plot! That plot destroys Bonnie’s soul! She is relegated to the background to hate Elena/The Salvatores/Caroline/Everyone! Thereby making Bonnie redundant to the plot AND an outcast AND unworthy of screentime! Yayyyy! YAY FOR THAT.

Except not at all yay, and stop underutilizing Bonnie AND Caroline who are great.

AND SPEAKING OF ALL OF THIS. Caroline does NOT get to judge ANYONE for sticking their tongue in Damon Salvatore’s mouth when she’s busy giving the time of day to the dude that JUST ORDERED HER MURDER TWO OR THREE EPISODES AGO. Seriously. I get that Damon was shitty to her. But Klaus not only tried to KILL her, he also ruined her relationship with the guy she’s in love with. So like, excellent writing there too.

And that should cover the airing of the grievances this week.

Things that TVD writers love:

littledivinity:

delenanian-shipper:

  • ruin delena
  • hurt damon
  • ruin delena
  • kill alaric
  • ruin delena
  • try to kill elijah
  • ruin delena
  • make stefan looks like the hero
  • ruin delena
  • and did I mention ruin delena?

I would also like to add:

I’m not even Bonnie’s biggest fan, but this is fucking RIDICULOUS.

as for my feelings about tonight’s episode:

littledivinity:

I do not hate Elena.

I do love Elijah.

And honestly, I’m mostly just done with this Salvatore bullshit.  We get it.  We’re in season 3 of an incredibly popular television show where the triangle is the main plot point day in, day out.  But the past like 10 episodes have been horribly done in regard to the love triangle.

I’ve seen a lot of love triangles in my time, and this is just…terribly, terribly done.  That’s not even coming from a “delena perspective” or whatever.  You can really ask any of my friends, I have not been a fan of this season because I think it’s doing a COMPLETE disservice to Stefan, Elena, and Damon.  Everyone is being put through a meat grinder of stupidity, the characterizations are super uneven, and what journey?  What arc? What continuity?

Sigh.  I want to be in love with this show again, but it’s making it really hard.

If you don’t repent and ship delena, your blog will be deleted and you will lose all content.

I love that moment in 1x04 where Stefan’s like, “Vervain hasn’t grown around here since 1865. Damon saw to that.” Like. Damon can magically eradicate herbs from entire areas of a country/state? Is that some sort of magic super vampire power?

good god, stefan, let’s get one thing straight: you do not get to assign worth to your ex-girlfriend. you don’t get to tell her who she is good enough or too good for. seriously. i appreciate the sentiment, but stop.
